By Prices checked October 23, 2026No test results yet

This Ahrefs review covers the five paid plans, the credits that limit the cheapest two, and the rule to know before you buy: no free trial and, in general, no refunds. The full toolset starts at $129 a month on Lite, which tracks 750 keywords weekly for one user, as of October 23, 2026. Ahrefs has no affiliate program, so this page earns nothing if you buy it.

We haven't tested Ahrefs; this review rests on its own pages and review-site scores.

Ahrefs Plans and Pricing in 2026

Ahrefs pricing runs from the $29 Starter plan to Enterprise at $1,499 a month, and the plans from Lite up share one toolset with limits that grow at each step.

Ahrefs Starter Plan vs Lite: What $29 Buys

The Ahrefs Starter plan costs $29 a month and buys 200 credits, while Lite gives each user 1,000 credits for $129.

Opening a report or pulling new data in most core tools spends a credit; Site Audit and Rank Tracker have separate limits. Starter adds Keywords Explorer and Rank Tracker to what Ahrefs Free includes, but it renews monthly only, takes no extra users or add-ons, and can't be reached by downgrading from Lite. Ahrefs' plan data lists one project, one month of history and 50 tracked keywords.

Ahrefs Free Trial and Refund Policy Before You Buy

Ahrefs has no free trial, and its refund policy says Ahrefs "does not issue refunds in general."

Monthly subscribers who haven't used the service can ask for one, but Ahrefs may refuse if it sees material activity. Its FAQ also says it never runs discounts. Cancellations and downgrades take effect at the end of the billing period, then the account drops to Ahrefs Free. Extra users and pay-as-you-go credits, once switched on, bill automatically.

Is Ahrefs Worth It for Agencies and Freelancers?

Ahrefs is worth it for agencies and freelancers whose work centers on backlinks and competitor research.

Ahrefs says its live backlink index refreshes every 15 to 30 minutes, and Standard keeps two years of history. The catch is seats: five people on Standard cost $489 a month ($249 plus four users at $60), and sites you can't verify count against caps of 5, 20 or 50 unverified projects. Skip it if you need daily tracking, a trial or cheap seats.

G2 lists Ahrefs at 4.5 out of 5 from 714 reviews and Capterra at 4.7 from 585 (both read from search results on October 23, 2026), but Trustpilot shows 2.2 from 322 reviews, with complaints about credit limits, refused refunds and support.

Cheaper Ahrefs Alternatives You Can Try First

Cheaper Ahrefs alternatives you can try first make more sense if your work is mostly rank tracking or keyword research.

SE Ranking's Core plan costs the same $129 but tracks 2,000 keywords daily, with a 14-day trial and no card (see our SE Ranking review). Mangools starts at $49 with a free plan, and SpyFu tracks 5,000 keywords weekly for $39 with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Ahrefs Rank Tracker Test: Results Pending Before You Buy

Our Ahrefs rank tracker test has not run yet, so results are pending and nothing on this page comes from hands-on use.

Test 01 will check which rank trackers report the page Google shows a real person, since AccuRanker reports Google serving swapped results to automated checks, with big steps on September 24 and October 15, 2026.

Ahrefs Review Questions Before You Buy

These Ahrefs review questions are the ones buyers ask most before they pay.

Does Ahrefs have a free trial?

Ahrefs has no free trial and never runs discounts. Ahrefs Free, a permanent free account for verified sites, is the nearest thing.

Can I get a refund from Ahrefs?

Ahrefs refunds are rare, since its policy rules them out in general; unused monthly plans can ask, and Ahrefs may still decline.

Is Ahrefs Free the same as Ahrefs Webmaster Tools?

Ahrefs Free is the same account as Ahrefs Webmaster Tools under a new name, free for sites you verify.
